Avril Ramona Lavigne (* 27. september 1984), známa pod menom Avril Lavigne (výslovnosť /ˈævrɨl ləˈviːn/), je kanadská speváčka-skladateľka a herečka. Lavigne predala na celom svete viac ako 30 miliónov kópií svojich albumov.[1] V roku 2006 bola zaradená časopisom „Canadian Business Magazine“ na siedmu priečku v rebríčku najvplyvnejších Kanaďanov v Hollywoode.[2]
Avril Lavigne vstúpila do nahrávacieho priemyslu jej debutovým albumom Let Go, ktorý vydala v roku 2002. Z tohto albumu sa predalo vo svete cez 16 miliónov kópií, 6 miliónov z toho v Amerike. Jej druhý a tretí album sa volá Under My Skin a The Best Damn Thing. Jej najznámejšie single, ktoré sa tiež umiestnili na prvom mieste vo svetových rebríčkoch sú „Complicated“, „Sk8er Boi“, „I'm With You“, „My Happy Ending“ a „Girlfriend“.
Začiatky kariéry
Avril Lavigne sa narodila v Belleville v Ontáriu v Kanade francúzskym rodičom – Johnovi a Judy. Judy tvrdí, že si Avrilino hudobné nadanie všimla prvýkrát, keď mala dva roky a spievala s ňou pieseň z kostola. Keď jej bolo päť, presťahovali sa do mesta Napanee.

Let Go (2001 – 2003)
Let Go vyšiel 4. júna 2002 a umiestnil sa na druhom mieste v Spojených štátoch, na prvom mieste v Austrálií, Kanade a Spojenom kráľovstve. To z nej urobilo najmladšiu sólovú speváčku, ktorá niečo také vo Veľkej Británií dokázala.[5] V roku 2003 jej rekord prekonala Joss Stone. Po mesiaci od vydania bol tento album multiplatinovým, po šiestich mesiacoch už štvornásobne.[6][7] Celkovo sa ho predalo 13 197 000 kusov a stal sa najpredávanejším ženským albumom toho roku a najpredávanejším debutom.[8]
Z albumu boli vydané štyri single. „Complicated“ sa dostala v Austrálii na prvé miesto a v americkej hitparáde U.S. Hot 100 na druhé miesto. Tiež to bol jeden z najlepšie predávaných kanadských singlov roku 2002. Avril Lavigne prekonala rekord Natalie Imbruglie, keď sa jej podarilo udržať singel „Complicated“ na prvom mieste v hitparáde Contemporary Hit Radio jedenásť týždňov v kuse. Pieseň „Sk8er Boi“ sa dostala v USA a Austrálii do Top Ten, „I'm With You“ sa dostala do top 10 v USA a Veľkej Británii a „Losing Grip“ sa dostala do top 10 v Taiwanu a do top 20 v Čile.
Avril bola ocenená ako najlepší nováčik na cenách MTV Video Music Awards 2002, vyhrala štyri ceny „Juno Awards 2003“ (mala šesť nominací), cenu World Music Award za svetovo najlepšie predávaného kanadského umelca a bola nominovaná na 8 cien Grammy.[9][10][11]
Under My Skin (2004 – 2006)
Druhý album Avril Lavigne Under My Skin vyšiel 25. mája 2004 v USA. Tam sa okamžite umiestil na prvom mieste, rovnako ako vo Veľkej Británii, Nemecku, Japonsku, Austrálii, Kanade, Mexiku, Argentíne, Španielsku, Írsku, Thajsku, Kórei a Hongkongu.[12] V USA sa ho predalo v prvom týždni cez 380 000 kusov. Avril napísala väčšinu textov a hudby svojho albumu s kanadskou autorkou piesní Chantal Kreviazuk, i keď na niektorých skladbách sa podieľal aj Ben Moody (bývalý člen Evanescence), Butch Walker a jej bývalý gitarista Evan Taubenfeld. Manžel Chantal Kreviazuk, Butch Walker a Don Gilmore boli producenti albumu.
Úvodný singel „Don't Tell Me“ sa dostal na prvé miesto v Argentíne a Mexiku, vo Veľké Británii do top 5 a do top 10 v Austrálii a Brazílii. Singel „My Happy Ending“ sa dostal do americkej Top 10 a bol tam tretím najväčším hitom. Tretí singel „Nobody's Home“ sa nedostal ani do top 40. Štvrtý singel „He Wasn't“ sa vo Veľkej Británii dostal na 23. miesto a na 25. v Austrálii, v USA nebol vydaný.[13] Posledný singel „Fall to Pieces“ si tak dobre ako predchádzajúce single neviedol.
Avril Lavigne získala dve ceny „World Music Awards 2004“ za najlepšieho pop-rockového umelca a za najlepšie predávaného kanadského umelca roku. Získala päť nominácií na ceny Juno Award 2005, z nich vyhrala tri. Tiež vyhrala cenu Nickelodeon Kids‘ Choice za „obľúbenú speváčku“.[14] Avril napísala spoločne s Matthewem Gerardem pieseň „Breakaway“ pre Kelly Clarkson a tá sa potom objavila na soundtracku k filmu Denník princeznej 2 a na albume Kelly, ktorý dostal tiež názov Breakaway.[15]
Lavigne sa vydala na turné „Live and by Surprise“ po 21 mestách v USA a Kanade na propagáciu albumu Under My Skin; prvou zastávkou bol Minneapolis. Avril vystupovala zásadne len po obchodných domoch a každé vystúpenie sa skladalo z krátkych akustických setov. Doprevádzal ju jej gitarista Evan Taubenfeld. Turné bolo veľmi úspešné.
Avril zároveň rozbiehala svoju hereckú a modelingovú kariéru. Vystúpila na Zimnej olympiáde 2006 v talianskom Turíne s piesňou „Who Knows“ pri oficiálnom predávaní „štafety“ zimných hier Kanade, kde sa olympijské hry budú konať v roku 2010.[16]
The Best Damn Thing (2007 – 2008)
Tretí album Avril, The Best Damn Thing vyšiel v apríli 2007. Produkovali ho Dr. Luke, jej manžel Deryck Whibley, Rob Cavallo, Butch Walker a ona sama. Travis Barker bol na albume bubeníkom. Avril prezradila na svojom profile na MySpace, že prvý singlom bude pieseň „Girlfriend“ a že má vyjsť 29. januára, ale toto dátum sa posunulo kvôli popularite singlu „Keep Holding On“ v rádiu. Singel „Girlfriend“ mal nakoniec premiéru 26. februára. Debutoval v hitparáde Billboard Hot 100 na piatom mieste. To je zatiaľ jej najlepší singlový debut. V internetovom obchode iTunes sa ho predalo viac ako 122 000 kusov. „Girlfriend“ tiež debutoval na tretom mieste v hitparáde Billboard's Top Digital Songs, do ktorého sa Avril dostala druhýkrát. Pieseň „Girlfriend“ má refrén naspievaný v 8 rôznych verziách – líšiaci sa jazykom. Ďalším úspešným singlom je „When You’re Gone“ a nemenej úspešným singlom „Hot“. Goodbye Lullaby (2009 – 2011)
Len mesiac po ukončení The Best Damn Tour začala Avril nahrávať vo svojom domácom štúdiu v novembri 2008 pieseň "Black Star",napísaná pre propagovanie svojej prvej vône rovnakého mena. V júli 2009, bolo nahraných deväť skladieb pre jej nový album, vrátane piesne "Everybody Hurts" a "Darlin". Niekoľké sklady boli napísané v mladosti Lavigne. "Darlin" bola druhá pieseň, ktorú Avril napísala ako 15-ročná, kým žila v Napanee, Ontario. V januári 2010,počas písania a nahrávania svojho nového albumu, Lavigne spolupracuje s Disney odevný dizajn, inšpirovaný Tim Burtonovým filmom, Alica v krajine zázrakov. Nový album bude hudobne opakom 'Goodbye Lullaby', Avril to vysvetlila takto: " 'Goodbye Lullaby' bol mäkší, jemnejší, ale ďalší bude opäť pop a viac zábavy. Už má pesničku, o ktorej viem, že bude singel (hit), len ju musím opäť (inak) nahrať!" Neskôr, v júli 2011 Avril odhalila názov dvoch pesničiek z jej piateho albumu ako 'Fine' (Fajn) a 'Gone' (Preč, odísť). Pesničky boli najskôr nahrané pre album 'Goodbye Lullaby', ale nikdy ich finálne nezostrihali. Tiež bolo potvrdené, že Avril spolupracuje s hudobným duom 'The Runners' na pripravovanom albume.
Avrilin piaty album by mal byť vydaný v roku 2012. Dátum vydania zatiaľ Avril ani nikto z hej štábu nepotvrdil. V októbri 2011 Avril uviedla v interview s Rádiom 'Virgin 96', že začne výrobu albumu v Januári 2012. Neskôr v roku 2011 Avril potvrdila, že sa posunula na 'Epic Records' (epické nahrávky), ktoré sú teraz v čele s L.A. Reidom.
Filmová kariera
